he did. Levitical law may have condemmed
homosexuality-along with eating pork and shellfish
or getting tattoos.Main-stream christians know
that those restrictions are superseded by a new
law of love,acceptance and respect for others.
Please do not legitimize hate speech against gays
by calling it "Christian."It clearly isn't.

I think the "new law of love" is actually an old law. It's just taken many of us a while to move in that direction. But it sure is sad to see how much hatred there is behind the "Chrisitan" movement. I used to call myself a Christian, but can't do it anymore. It's a club I can't belong to!

My dad broke his jaw just before Christmas because the meds he was taking for the prostrate dropped his blood pressure too low and he passed out three times within like 1/2 hour. My step-mom couldn't catch him and he had to have his jaw wired shut for 6 weeks.

For me, that's one reason why I don't prescribe to an organized religion. Why can't everyone just prescribe to the Golden Rule? I hate when religion twists things to suit their own ends.

Thanks for stopping by our blog, Michelle. Since you asked me to comment here, I'll try to express my opinion as a Christian. First, I'd like to emphatically say that I don't see anything at all Christian about any hate language directed at homosexuals.
On the other hand, I can't agree with your position that the Bible's position against gays is strictly an Old Testament cultural attitude. Romans 1:26-32, in the New Testament, has a very definite condemnation of both male and female homosexuality. But let's be sure we keep this in perspective. Being disobedient to parents is included in the same list of sins in that chapter.
ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God. We ALL need a saving faith in Jesus for forgiveness of our sins.

I am a Christian. I do not deem myself a judge of any other man and their choices. My role is to love all people. I was quite upset when the pastor of the church I was going to preached hate from the pulpit towards homosexuals. I was floored. It was the first time I had been witness to anything of the sort. I couldn't believe that it was what he thought appropriate. I made sure when my family got home to talk to my son about how wrong the pastor was and that the greatest commandment given to us is to love one another. God bless.

Agreed! What I am sick of is people hiding behind thier religeon. They want to feel like they have a good reason to feel such hatred towards people unlike themselves. Clearly they realize there is something wrong with thier views on the subject if they feel the need to hide behind religeon instead of just owning up to thier thoughts and opinions.

So true. One of the reasons I stay away from churches is because I can't stand these hypocrits that preach pease and understanding but are so closeminded. I love when they tell me I am going to hell because I do not go to church, but you know what if these are the people going to heaven, I'd rather go to hell!
